Packing for a Move

Welcome to my website. I’m hoping to provide you with some useful packing tips. My name is Ellen Monday. My family and I moved from a very large home to a large home. My point being, although we still live in a large house, we did downsize. It was almost like packing for two moves because we had belongings going to the new house and some going to storage. We had to make decisions about what we wanted to keep, store and get rid of. I have some tips on how we made those decisions, and the best ways we found to pack. Items that were going into storage were packed differently than those we were moving to the new house. Boxes had to be carefully and clearly marked so we didn’t end up storing our everyday dishes or something tragic like that! Hope you enjoy my blog.

Three Benefits Of Automatic Gates On Your Driveway

Aaron Carroll

If you've been thinking about installing an automatic driveway gate on your property, you might be wondering if it's worth the investment. Automatic driveway gates are a great addition in most cases, particularly for issues like security, property value and general safety. Here are a few of the benefits of investing in an automatic gate for your home's driveway.

Increase Your Property Value

If you choose a gate that aesthetically enhances the structure of the fence and your landscaping, it's likely to improve your property's appraisal value. Talk with the county's appraisers to find out if there are any specific considerations that may help in this regard because they can tell you what is considered important for your area.

For the most significant increase, think about having your gate custom-made to be a clear representation of the color scheme and design of the land. As an example, you can add an antique bronze gate to a home that's in a historical district. The bronze, paired with an intricate carving, will help to create a more cohesive appearance in the neighborhood.

Improve Your Property Security

Adding an automated gate to the end of your driveway provides you with a new level of property protection. When you attach a gate like this to a full-perimeter property fence, it allows you to control access to your property entirely. With over 2 million burglaries a year, the more you can do to make your property difficult to access, the lower your risk factor will be.

For even more control over who does and does not get access to your property, you can add a two-way intercom to the outside of the gate. Include a video camera as well and you'll be able to see and speak to every visitor before granting them access to your property.

In fact, most home insurance companies will extend premium discounts to homeowners with a fence and gate structure like this. The increased property security reduces your risk of filing a claim due to intruders or accidents, so the insurance premium will reflect the lower risk.

Enhance Your Pet Security

In addition to the personal protection that comes from adding a fence and gate like this, you'll also get protection for delivery personnel and other visitors. If you have a dog that is excitable and prone to nipping at people, adding the gate gives you the chance to get the pup secured before allowing someone access to your property. This can limit the risk of dog bites, which protects not only your visitors but also your home insurance.

Along with protecting visitors from your pets, adding a gate like this will also protect your pets from a variety of hazards. For example, it keeps them from accidentally wandering off. This is important, because a loose pet may get picked up by animal control.

These types of gates also help to reduce the risk of having a pet abducted by a passer-by or attacked by a troublesome neighborhood animal. With nearly 225 pets stolen in the first half of 2011, this threat is a serious one. While some of these animals were stolen from pet stores and cars, many were stolen from their own homes. By keeping your yard enclosed with a gate that requires your intervention to open, you'll protect your pup from the potential of abduction.

The information presented here clearly illustrates several benefits of investing in a fence and driveway security gate, of which there are multiple types. You also will have to consider if you wish to install something like a swing gate opener. With the support of a manufacturer who produces durable gates, you can improve the overall security of the property and enjoy these other benefits.
